While there are no data sources for people who are "solo aging" according to current definitions, the U.S. Census reports on who is living alone. We use this as a proxy for solo aging.
The U.S. Census data map shows the concentration of people 65 and older living alone across the country.
The chart below presents data on older adults living alone in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Scholars at the Gerontology Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston are compiling aging-related data maps for states. Through 2025, the Institute has released reports for Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Mississippi, and Wyoming.
